THE DISTRICT

The 74th Assembly District covers a rural part of northern Wisconsin, bordering Minnesota to its west and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to its east. The district includes the entireties of Sawyer, Iron and Washburn counties along with parts of Burnett, Douglas, Bayfield and Ashland Counties, and is a likely Republican seat.

THE NUTSHELL

First-term Rep. Chanz Green, R-Grand View, is seeking re-election against Democrat Jeanne Bruce. Green has focused on hunting rights, workforce development and infrastructure spending. Bruce, who has served on the Washburn County Board of Commissioners, retired after a 30-year career in program and fund development in business, government and the nonprofit sector. She supports reproductive rights and rural health care, restructuring the hospital system and protecting natural resources. Green is favored to win due to the partisan composition of the district.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Green won the Democratic primary and faces Bruce who did not have a primary opponent.
