THE DISTRICT

This safe Republican seat includes Waupaca, stretching south to Wautoma.

THE NUTSHELL

Rep. Kevin Petersen, R-Waupaca, faces Democrat Ruth Caves, of Wild Rose, and independent Dylan Testin. Petersen was first elected to the Assembly in 2006, oversees Assembly floor sessions in his role as speaker pro tempore and is vice chair of the Legislature’s powerful Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules. Petersen is favored to win because of the district’s partisan makeup.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Petersen soundly defeated Wilson and faces Caves, who didn’t have a primary opponent, and Testin in the general election.
