THE DISTRICT

This district encompasses portions of Milwaukee County running along the border with Waukesha County. It is a safe Democratic seat.

THE NUTSHELL

Rep. LaKeshia Myers, D-Milwaukee, opted to run for an open state Senate seat in November, leaving open a safe Democratic seat in the Milwaukee area. Russell Goodwin, a reverend and former Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors member, won a four-way Democratic primary. He faces independent candidate Deanna Alexander. Alexander is a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and a former Republican who is “proudly (running) as an independent, guided by the principle of prioritizing people over politics,” according to a campaign launch statement.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Goodwin won a close four-way primary contest with about a third of the vote and does not have an opponent in the general election.
