U.S. Senate | U.S. House | State Senate | Assembly | Constitutional amendments
THE DISTRICT
This Republican-leaning district includes parts of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties. It includes the cities of Cedarburg, Port Washington and Mequon, as well as villages like Bayside, Menomonee Falls and Whitefish Bay.
THE NUTSHELL
New legislative maps drew incumbents Duey Stroebel, R-Saukville, and Dan Knodl, R-Germantown, into the same district. Knodl, rather than face Stroebel in a primary, decided to run for the Assembly instead. Stroebel, who has held office since 2015, will be challenged by Milwaukee Democrat Jodi Habush Sinykin. Sinykin lost to Knodl by only 1,200 votes in a special election for the district last year. She is a lawyer, business owner and environmental advocate. In March, Stroebel blocked the formation of a task force on missing and murdered African American women and girls. He has been a proponent of tax cuts and giving lawmakers oversight of executive branch rulemaking while serving in the Legislature.
PRIMARY RESULTS
Both Stroebel and Habush Sinykin advanced without an opponent.
