THE DISTRICT

This likely Democratic seat in western Wisconsin is anchored in La Crosse and includes portions of Vernon and Monroe counties.

THE NUTSHELL

Sen. Brad Pfaff, D-Onalaska, is seeking a second term in the state Senate in this likely Democratic seat in western Wisconsin. Pfaff serves on the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Tourism and previously served as acting secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. The state Senate rejected his appointment in November 2019, effectively firing him from the job. Republican Stacey Klein, a Trempealeau County Board member, will challenge Pfaff in November. She’s campaigning on cutting taxes, securing “parental rights” in the educational setting and bolstering mental health care in western Wisconsin.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Both Pfaff and Klein advanced without an opponent.
