THE DISTRICT

The 72nd Assembly District encompasses part of Juneau County, the southern half of Wood County and the northern half of Adams County. It is a likely Republican seat.

THE NUTSHELL

Incumbent Rep. Scott Krug, R-Nekoosa, is seeking re-election against Democrat Suzanne Campbell. Krug is favored due to the partisan makeup of the district. Krug took office in 2011 and is the chair on the Committee on Campaigns and Election. He also sits on the Committee on Colleges and Universities, Committee on Housing and Real Estate and Committee on Local Government. Recently, he has sponsored legislation to address absentee ballot certificates, workforce home loan programs and tax reductions. Campbell worked in the credit union industry for 25 years and leads the creative team for Exclamation Services in Marshfield. According to her social media posts, she supports LGBTQ+ equality, Juneteenth and women in politics including Democratic Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Both Krug and Campbell advanced without an opponent.
