THE DISTRICT

This district is rooted in Marinette and extends to encompass portions of Florence and Forest counties. It is a safe Republican seat.

THE NUTSHELL

Longtime Rep. Jeffrey Mursau, R-Crivitz, faces Democrat Ben Murray, a Navy veteran. Mursau chairs both the Assembly Committee on Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation and the Legislature’s Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations. Mursau was one of the lead authors during the most recent legislative session that would have directed how $125 million is used to address PFAS contamination throughout the state. Murray is running to “limit out-of-touch career politicians and draw focus back to our working class,” according to his campaign website. He is a heavy underdog, given the makeup of the district.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Mursau and Murray both advanced. Neither had a primary challenger.
