After nearly $1 million, Walker ends outside legal pact
Executive Assistant Attorney General Steven Means said the Department of Justice feels it can handle the remaining cases without additional outside help. “The total mass of the workload is getting less,” Means said. “Hopefully we’re getting to the end of the Act 10 litigation.”
DPI survey: School staffing holds steady after years of decline
Newly released data from the state Department of Public Instruction show that staffing levels at state public schools held steady last year, despite fears that changes initiated by Gov. Scott Walker would prompt additional losses. The number of employees did drop in some program areas and in some districts, according to the DPI’s summary report. And overall staffing remains significantly lower than five years ago.
Non-fiscal budget items draw flak
It’s hard to deny that Walker is doing pretty much exactly what he promised to stop. But that doesn’t mean the pork projects and policy items included in his budget are bad ideas.
