Rep. Sylvia Ortiz-Velez, D-Milwaukee, won a primary challenge in a safe Democratic district that encompasses a large portion of Milwaukee’s south side. Ortiz-Velez was first elected in 2020. She has also served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. In January, she was a co-sponsor of a bipartisan bill that would have decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana. She doesn’t have an opponent on Nov. 5.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Ortiz-Velez soundly defeated a primary challenger and does not face a general election opponent.
