THE DISTRICT

The 59th Assembly District is largely rural, falling south of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan and north of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The district includes parts of Ozaukee, Washington, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Dodge counties. It is a safe Republican seat.

THE NUTSHELL

Incumbent Rep. Robert Brooks, R-Saukville, faces Democrat Jack Holzman, a retired teacher from Belgium, Wisconsin. First elected in 2014, Brooks chairs the Assembly Committee on Housing and Real Estate. Prior to be elected to the Assembly, he served on the Ozaukee County Board for 14 years. Holzman is running because his “core values are being challenged by the far right and the Republican Party,” according to his campaign site. Brooks is a heavy favorite to win another term because of the partisan makeup of the district.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Brooks and Holzman both advanced. Neither faced a primary opponent.
