THE DISTRICT

This safe Republican district stretches northwest from the outskirts of Appleton to encompass New London and Bear Creek.

THE NUTSHELL

Longtime Rep. David Murphy, R-Greenville, faces Democrat Emily Tseffos, of Appleton. First elected in 2012, Murphy currently chairs the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities, giving him influence in GOP lawmakers’ ongoing feud with the UW System over diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Tseffos is campaigning on boosting funding for public schools and bolstering abortion rights in Wisconsin. She is an underdog, given the partisan makeup of the district.

PRIMARY RESULTS

Murphy and Tseffos both advanced. Neither faced a primary opponent.
