Republican members of the Legislature’s Joint Audit Committee are asking for hearings on travel by state elected officials.

The request was made in response to a story by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism and a University of Wisconsin-Madison reporting class that found Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat, did not provide receipts for travel expenses nearly three-fourths of the time in 2007 and 2008. State travel policy requires that receipts be provided for charges made on state credit cards. Read the Journal Sentinel’s update.
